Please allow 2-3 business days for tents to ship if you elect for us to seam seal your tent.

Named one of the best backpacking tents of the year by Backpacker Magazine, the Owyhee is built for solo missions where light and fast principles are what matters most. The Owyhee 1P Tent is an ultralight 1 person shelter that pitches quickly and easily and will keep you dry in any weather. Designed to be a spacious 1P tent with enough room to sleep you and all your gear, the Owyhee is a single trekking pole pitch tent with a spacious interior that packs down to the size of a grapefruit.

With a modified hexagonal shape and 50" pitch height, the interior space is designed to provide a comfortable sleeping area for any person up to 6'3" tall, with 5 additional guy-out points around the tent that provide added tie-down points in windy weather. Split with roughly two-thirds of the interior dedicated to sleeping and the remaining dedicated to gear, the Owyhee has enough room for you and everything in your pack.

The Owyhee 1P is made from our lightweight, durable and extremely waterproof Nano-Ripstop silpoly fabric that won't sag when wet, maintaining the interior space of the tent in wet weather.

The Owyhee can be run as a floorless shelter, or with the integrated Owyhee 1P Insert (sold separately) with a bathtub floor and mesh netting. When both pieces are used together, the insert occupies approximately two-thirds of the tent, leaving a vestibule for gear. While the Owyhee 1P is designed to be pitched with a single trekking pole, you can use our Rincon 2P Carbon Fiber Pole if you want a dedicated pole for the tent.

The Owyhee is fast and easy to pitch and has sewn in line-loc adjusters on all guy-out points for quick and easy pitching adjustments. Pitch it low to the ground for full weather protection and to block drafts, or higher to allow for more air flow.

The Owyhee 1P needs to be seam sealed to be fully waterproof. We include seam sealer with every tent, and for more information on seam sealing, check out our seam sealing instruction page

Love it

Great tent that sets up quickly and provides amazing wind sheltering. Used it on a hunt yesterday and I had to set up in low light after the trek took longer than I thought it would. Still was able to get the tent up and the small footprint was definitely beneficial.

Exactly what I needed!

Did my first backpack hunting trip and needed a new 1p tent. This setup with the insert is top notch, too me a sec to dial in the setup, but once you’ve done it once it’s a quick setup and tear down with or without the insert! I will look to get the bigger tents as my boys continue to grow. Highly recommend!

Great little tent.

I spent four nights sleeping in this shelter on a recent back country hunting trip in the mountains of Northern California. Overall I really like this shelter but it does have some short falls.
Pro: This shelter is well made and appears to be very durable. I could not find any flaws in the production. The Owyhee packs down to the size of a softball. The size helped with fitting five days of gear and food in a 3600 cubic inch pack. The setup is intuitive making it easy to get a good pitch even in the dark. The most impressive feature was the shelter’s ability to withstand the wind. We were sleeping on ridges every night as it was the only flat ground available. Every night the wind would start blowing with gusts up to 20-30mph. It was blowing so strong that everything would be covered in dust in the morning. Although the walls of the shelter would flap loudly the overall structure never felt compromised.
Cons: I understand that every design is a compromise between features and cost. The two flaws I found with this shelter was the length and lack of mid span tie-outs. Due to the wind I had to pitch the shelter down to the ground. I am only 5’ 11” and ether my feet or my head were always pressing against a wall. In a dry environment this was not a big problem but if there was any condensation in the shelter I would have found this to be frustrating. A shelter that was 6” longer would be perfect for me. The other issue was the placement of the upper tie-outs. These are placed about a foot above the stake down points. This left wide spans of unsupported material that flap in the wind. Mid-span supports would be more difficult to manufacture but they would reduce flapping and increase interior space.
In conclusion I really like this shelter for light weight early season backcountry hunting but would be hesitant to use it in humid or rainy conditions.
