Owyhee 1P Tent

Regular price $215.00 $0.00 Unit price per

Named one of the best backpacking tents of the year by Backpacker Magazine, the Owyhee is built for solo missions where light and fast principles are what matters most. The Owyhee 1P Tent is an ultralight 1 person shelter that pitches quickly and easily and will keep you dry in any weather. Designed to be a spacious 1P tent with enough room to sleep you and all your gear, the Owyhee is a single trekking pole pitch tent with a spacious interior that packs down to the size of a grapefruit.

With a modified hexagonal shape and 50" pitch height, the interior space is designed to provide a comfortable sleeping area for any person up to 6'3" tall, with 5 additional guy-out points around the tent that provide added tie-down points in windy weather. Split with roughly two-thirds of the interior dedicated to sleeping and the remaining dedicated to gear, the Owyhee has enough room for you and everything in your pack.

The Owyhee 1P is made from our lightweight, durable and extremely waterproof Nano-Ripstop silpoly fabric that won't sag when wet, maintaining the interior space of the tent in wet weather.

The Owyhee can be run as a floorless shelter, or with the integrated Owyhee 1P Insert (sold separately) with a bathtub floor and mesh netting. When both pieces are used together, the insert occupies approximately two-thirds of the tent, leaving a vestibule for gear. While the Owyhee 1P is designed to be pitched with a single trekking pole, you can use our Rincon 2P Carbon Fiber Pole if you want a dedicated pole for the tent.

The Owyhee is fast and easy to pitch and has sewn in line-loc adjusters on all guy-out points for quick and easy pitching adjustments. Pitch it low to the ground for full weather protection and to block drafts, or higher to allow for more air flow.

The Owyhee 1P needs to be seam sealed to be fully waterproof. We include seam sealer with every tent, and for more information on seam sealing, check out our seam sealing instruction page. If you elect to have us seam seal your tent, please allow 3-5 business days for fulfillment.

Works great!

Only had the chance to use it once so far but, it’s lightweight, easy and fast to set up. The insert works great to keep the bugs out especially mosquitos. I’m 5’10” and I had plenty of room to sleep. I was worried about that being a 1p but the 2p rincon was sold out so I settled with the 1p and I’m happy with it. Thank you

Hey Tyson,

Glad the Owyhee 1P worked out for you. We hope you are able to get out and use it this Summer and Fall. Good luck and thank you for the review.

Solid, light, comfortable

The tent packs up light and carries easy, even with the carbon fiber pole. The separate sacks for the rain fly keeps everything dry. The tent setup was fairly easy. It took some time to get the tensioning right, and I wasn’t able to keep the inner completely separate from the fly. I’m sure repeated use will improve setup.

Hey Greg,

Thanks for the review, I am sure others will find it helpful as well. I hope you have some great trips for this Summer and Fall!

Appreciate you sharing.

Test run at TAC

Very well made. Kept me dry in a down poor. I’m 6.0 220lbs and had plenty of room with my sleeping gear. I do wish the vestibule area was slightly larger, I had to bring my big pack in the shelter during the downpour. I asked for a 1p and that’s what it is. I may try the 2p as a 1 man shelter with large vestibule area.

Fast, light, but tight fit

Pros: good quality, fast to set up, super light, excellent quality.
Cons: too tight at head and feet for someone 6'-1". heat and feet touch insert and outer permitting condensation/moisture into tent. Had to sleep in fetal position to avoid this.

Hi Jeff, thanks for leaving a review. Please note that we designed the tent for people up to 6'2' to fit comfortably, and although the top and foot end of your sleeping bag will likely touch the insert at that height you shouldn't have condensation issues laying flat. Thanks again!

Nice Size, Weight, & Ease

Great value tent. Good material, fantastic weight, and relatively easy to erect, especially if you're already used to pitching structureless tents with your trekking pole.
