Serac Knife Stealth Edition

Regular price $349.00 $0.00 Unit price per

The Argali Serac Stealth Edition is a lightweight, backcountry hunting knife with a full handle grip and a modified skinning style blade complete with a black Ion Bond coating that will protect your knife from the harshest elements and conditions.

Made with a ferro rod striker built into the spine of the knife, we designed the Serac for those that prefer a deeper belly knife, but still want a "do it all" knife for field butchering that can cut up any big game animal without needing to be re-sharpened. With a deep belly and a drop point blade tip for tight spaces and detail work, the Serac has the functionality of a skinning and a caping knife.

Made in the USA from super premium S35VN steel for long lasting edge retention, the Serac Stealth Edition is a "one knife" solution for hunters that prefer a deeper belly blade in an ultralight package.

Why S35VN Steel-In order to make a knife that would hold an edge to cut an entire elk without needing to be sharpened, we wanted the best steel on the market. We wanted a steel that could hold an edge, but wasn't so hard that you couldn't field hone it if you needed to. With its' high Chromium and Vanadium content, as well as the structural alignment of the steel that occurs during the heat treatment, S35VN is simply the best steel on the market for hunting knives with its' unmatched durability, hardness, edge retention and corrosion resistance.

    Solid Knife

Feels like a lightweight, performs like a heavyweight. The ferro rod striker works well enough to light a Jetboil ina pinch. Knife edge is outstanding. Same great Argali performance as my other gear from them.

Excellent quality, sharp, weighs almost nothing, grip slows for great control, the orange lines make the knife easy to find.

    First solid knife for hunting

For hunting, I have always used an Outdoor Edge (OE) replaceable blade system. However, for my sheep/bear hunt, I wanted to reduce weight and selected a fixed blade knife instead of the OE. Initial impressions are that the knife is of excellent fit and finish with a total combined (w/ sheath) weight of 3.14oz.

Upon harvesting a 5' 6" black bear, the knife failed to perform as I expected. To skin and flesh the bear, the knife required at least fifteen sharpening sessions (each time ending with a razor sharp blade). The Argali belt was a pain to use, to the point that I ended up using a partners diamond stone instead (much faster and under one ounce). The following day, my partner took a sheep and used his Outdoor Edge system. For the entire skinning, quartering, and fleshing process, he used one blade with one sharpening session.

I am leaving a five star review due to the knifes overall fit/finish and weight. It is excellent for a lightweight backcountry knife, just not something I would recommend for processing game. Pending my hunting scenario, I will continue to carry it as a fixed blade knife is invaluable compared to a replaceable system, given certain tasks.
