The Guide Air Fleece is a comfortable and practical midlayer that I take on every outing. It breathes well during high-output activity and provides solid warmth when layered in colder conditions. Durable, versatile, and easy to wear, it’s a reliable piece I reach for my hunts.
This is a piece I never leave the house without! I’ve integrated it into my layering system as well and won’t go back to my old system. Great for chilly walks on the beach or waiting out a snow squall under a puffy.
My favorite layering combo last fall was this fleece with a shortsleeved merino under it and a light vest on top. This Guide Air Fleece is ideal for chilly mornings with a demanding pull up the mountain. Good heat dumping without freezing at the top. Highly recommend.
I've worn and tested a lot of fleece tops over the years. Where the Guide Air excels is that it manages to mate 2 characteristics that rarely work together in a fleece. It is wickedly durable but still remains light and has an excellent fit. I wore the final prototype chasing elk and deer in Idaho and on a rocky, cactus-filled, juniper-choked Arizona elk hunt. For hunts where I know brush-busting is part of the equation this is the fleece I want. I see this thing lasting for many, many years.
