The Argali Serac is a lightweight, backcountry hunting knife with a full handle grip and a modified skinning style blade designed to cut up any big game animal without needing to be sharpened. Complete with a ferro rod striker built into the spine of the knife, we designed the Serac for those that prefer a deeper belly knife, but still want a "do it all" knife for field butchering. With a deep belly and a drop point blade tip for tight spaces and detail work, the Serac has the functionality of a skinning and a caping knife. Made in the USA from super premium S35VN steel for long lasting edge retention, the Serac is a "one knife" solution for hunters that prefer a deeper belly blade in an ultralight package.
Why S35VN Steel-In order to make a knife that would hold an edge to cut an entire elk without needing to be sharpened, we wanted the best steel on the market. We wanted a steel that could hold an edge, but wasn't so hard that you couldn't field hone it if you needed to. With its' high Chromium and Vanadium content, as well as the structural alignment of the steel that occurs during the heat treatment, S35VN is simply the best steel on the market for hunting knives with its' unmatched durability, hardness, edge retention and corrosion resistance.

I had a gerber game knife that was passable however was difficult to use due to the edge being dulled towards the end of field quartering one buck.
I got the Serac as a gift and was amazed at after field quatering and skinning a black bear as well as 2 bucks this season, the Serac was still sharp, not as sharp as when is was virgin but still very sharp.
I then discovered the great sharpening service Argali does on their knives. I sent them the Serac and received it barely a week later sharpened and shipped back to me free of charge. And its back to its impossibly sharp edge.
Thank you Argali.
As expected, this knife is everything I dreamed of and more. Only managed to use it on one deer this fall, but it was butter smooth and stayed incredibly sharp the entire time. Having never owned a quality hunting knife before, the Serac did not disappoint. Holds great, doesn’t get slippery, super sharp, doesn’t seem to loose its edge easily. The quality and ingenuity of the Argali crew and their products are exceptional.
I've cleaned over 100 ducks (teal, mallard, gadwall, pintail, spoonies....) and haven't had to sharpen it at all. I have stropped it a time or three. The sheath was awkward at first but has broken in and is OK now. It is not my favorite design--not really up to the same standard as the knife--but it does the job.
This is my all time favorite hunting knife. I do everything with it! Cleaned 4 antelope last year with no sharpening. Whole elk? No problem! This thing is razor sharp and holds a great edge. If it does full a bit, it’s very easy to get back to razor sharp. It’s also extremely light and has replaced all my other hunting blades.
When ounces matter this knife was a game changer. I recently used this on a NM Pronghorn hunt. When my hunting partners were changing out blades, this just stayed sharp and got the job done on 2 goats, quartering and deboning some. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is going on a backwoods hunt. I'm looking forward to using this on an Elk next year.
