Named the Best Overall sleeping bag of the year by Backpacker Magazine, the Argali Alpine 20 Degree sleeping bag will re-define the way you think about sleep in the backcountry. Designed for comfort and warmth in an ultralight package, the Alpine is built for those who like more shoulder room or toss and turn and is full of features designed to trap warm air and help you sleep through the night. Perfect for any backpacking or backcountry adventure, the Alpine 20 Degree is incredibly warm for a 20 degree bag, and is rated for comfort, not survival. This is one of the warmest, widest, and most comfortable 20 degree sleeping bags on the market.

For the ultimate backcountry sleep experience, use our Elite Dream Pillow, which is a soft, stuffable pillow that attaches to the inside of the hood of the sleeping bag.

If you are looking for a warmer sleeping bag, check out our Alpine 0 Degree Sleeping Bag.

Features

  • 850+ Dry Loft Down-We partnered with Allied Down and Feather to create Dry Loft Down, a naturally water resistance down sourced from Eastern Europe and processed in the USA for maximum long-term loft. It is simply the best down for sleeping bags that exists. Dry Loft Down is responsibly sourced RDS certified with no wax-based waterproof coatings that cause down clumping and reduce loft over time.
  • Body Mapped Baffles-Differential cut fabric and a combination of vertical and horizontal baffles with internal flow gates strategically puts goose down where you need it the most to trap warm air and prevent down migration in the baffles.
  • Honest Temperature Ratings-With a commitment to honest comfort ratings vs. an industry standard survival rating, our Alpine 20 degree bag is built and independently tested to ISO standards to keep you comfortable at 20 degrees, not shivering throughout the night, leading to enhanced warmth and ultimate recovery.
  • Ultralight, Ultra comfortable Fabric-Breathable Pertex Quantum 15D fabric with PFC-Free DWR coating prevents moisture from getting your bag from the outside, but still allows moisture to escape from inside your bag, while our soft 15D polyester fabric provides a comfortable next to skin feel.
  • Anti-Snag Zipper-Two way YKK #5 zipper with anti-snag cover provides smooth zipper operation and prevents fabric from catching in the zipper.
  • 3D Foot Box-A Footbox that mirrors the shape of your feet so you won't compress the down in at the bottom of your bag and create cold spots.
  • 3D Contoured Hood-A hood that cradles your head and prevents drafting from inside the bag.
  • Insulated Draft Tubes-Insulated and overstuffed draft tubes along the face and zipper trap warm air, prevent drafting and keep you better insulated.
  • Integrated Pillow Attachment System-connection points inside the hood allow the Elite Dream Pillow to attach to your pillow so it stays put during the night.
  • Internal Cell Phone Pocket-Keep your battery alive and warm with the internal pocket on the right side shoulder of the bag.

Its advertised to be a bit larger than some sleeping bags in the torso area but its still fairly tight. Im 6’2” 235 lbs and the length is great but still a little toght up top.

First use, just ok.

Spent the night out camping with it as soon as I got it For context, I hike, hunt, camp, fish and climb in the white mountains of New Hampshire. It's rugged country and I put my gear through a lot. Out of the box I noticed how light it is, which is a big reason for the purchase, but also how thin the face material feels. Hope durability isn't an issue. The first night was 31 degrees and I was initially cold in just baselayer top and bottom. Added a puffy and was ok. My pad was a nemo quasar insulated but it isn't as high an R value as my tensor, So that may have something to do with it. The bag has high loft but because of the light weight pertex it didn't have that blanket like weight and feel to it. I'm looking forward using it again with better results. My purchase was largely based on the positive reviews of the bags warmth and it's true 20 degree rating..

Hey Jeff,
Thanks for your review. Yes, the sleeping pad will make a difference in being warm and comfortable in your sleeping bag. There is also a cinch near the top of the sleeping bag to help with cold air getting into the bag.
